Not lasting Collage
Ephemeral collage works came through from a moment of despair, not knowing about the future and just focusing on the beauty of the present moment. Created during early confinement Covid19, march 2020, using the same materials over and over again.
Not lasting or ephemeral collage is a technique that I started to do during Covid-19 quarantine. When I was not able to visit my studio and my kids were around all day. My materials were limited and space to work too. In those uncertain moments that we lived, impermanence and a huge natural craving were the main feelings around me.
The works you can see in the gallery below does not exist anymore. The materials I used are still around my studio, but just piled up in a box. Not gluieng the composition helped me to navigate the uncertainity, and focus just in the materials.

It was a remembering that nothing is forever, but it is still beautiful. During that time a lot of questions were on the table. My husband and I talked a lot those weeks about life, love, fear, doubts, future, dreams, passions and rules, and a lot more. We promised ourselves that we will lift each other to follow our own lines, whatever that means for him or me. We said that we would trust on conversations, they are a line that leads you beyond fear. For this ephemeral collage I used some fabric, thread, handmade paper and paper scraps from my studio. This collage doesn’t exist anymore. Just like yesterday doesn’t exist anymore.

It was a remembering that nothing is forever, but it is still beautiful. Love is what is all about. No words needed. No things needed. Nothing roots us more that feel loved and love. This is our lesson from those weeks at home. For this ephemeral collage I used a found paper, leather, cardboard, painted paper, vintage embroidered fabric. This collage doesn’t exist anymore. It was a remembering that nothing is forever, but it is still beautiful. During the time at home we draw tattoos to each other and decided which would be better to do as a real ink tattoo. My middle child draw me a smiley and roundy dinosaur. For this ephemeral collage I used some fabric rosemary and avocado handdye , old school paper scraps, thread, embroidery and a scrap of my baby’s pajamas. This collage doesn’t exist anymore. Just like yesterday doesn’t exist anymore.

It was a remembering that nothing is forever, but it is still beautiful. There was a lot of uncertainty those days back in spring 2020. Somedays we could feel like if we were in vacation, others we felt lost, or even fear. But looking closely most of the days we felt grateful for those weeks in a sweet family bubble. For this ephemeral collage I used some found paper, hand tea dyed silk, a piece of fabric, lace, old book school paper scraps, and a drawing of mine. This collage doesn’t exist anymore. Just like yesterday doesn’t exist anymore.

It was a remembering that nothing is forever, but it is still beautiful. During those weeks my husband created a bedtime story for all of us. The story grew everyday with a new chapter of the adventure. Just as we were living. For this ephemeral collage I used some fabric handmade dyed, with rosemary and avocado, old school books, leather and skteches. This collage doesn’t exist anymore. Just like yesterday doesn’t exist anymore.
